Diana Prieto has provided strategic and policy and technical leadership on gender equality and gender mainstreaming in development policy and programming for close to 30 years. She has extensive experience partnering with diverse stakeholders in the US and internationally, building capacity, determining resource allocation, and promoting shared objectives to advance gender mainstreaming and gender transformative goals. Diana has effectively led multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral teams, managed and carried out processes for program design, implementation, and evaluation, and overseen complex budgets and multifaceted initiatives, including in the areas of gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and women’s economic empowerment.
After a 25-year career at USAID, most recently as Director of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Office, Diana contributes her thought leadership and technical and policy expertise to the work of Iris Group, supporting efforts to strengthen and revitalize gender equality strategies and structures and to expand opportunities and modalities to promote inclusive and transformational change.
Diana earned a Master’s in Public Policy, with a focus on Gender and International Policy and Development, from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.
