Gender Assessment and Strategy for Uganda Sanitation for Health (S4H) Project
USAID
2019
Iris Group researchers conducted a joint gender and youth assessment for the USAID-funded Sanitation for Health (S4H) activity in Uganda. Following the Iris Group standard methodology for gender analyses, the team conducted a literature review, followed by a rapid assessment on-site to collect and analyze primary data from Kampala and four rural districts. A one-day validation workshop was held with project staff and partners to discuss the results of the rapid assessment and brainstorm possible solutions to strengthen the meaningful participation of female and youth in the S4H activity. The assistance included the preparation and presentation of results in a Gender and Youth Analysis Integration Matrix (GAIM), along with an action plan—inclusive of recommendations and verifiable indicators—to clearly chart the way forward.
