Hannah Taukobong is Vice President and Practice Lead for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). She has 15 years of experience in international development, largely focused on health, gender and social inclusion programming, research, design, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building. She is an experienced gender trainer with curriculum development expertise and has trained hundreds of donors and partners in English, Spanish, French and Haitian Creole.

 

At Iris Group, Hannah has worked to develop and refine a participatory coaching approach to build capacity on gender analysis and integration. This approach focuses on operationalizing the programmatic response to gender issues identified during gender analysis, from project design through to monitoring and evaluation. She has worked across a variety of sectors, including food security, agriculture, WASH, democracy and governance, disaster response, family planning, MNCH, and HIV, in a variety of contexts including Guatemala, Haiti, Madagascar and Jordan. She is committed to using approaches that prioritize participatory methodologies and systematic inclusion of traditionally marginalized groups. Hannah also has expertise in advocacy; health policy development, analysis and implementation; qualitative and quantitative research; analysis of population-based data and applying computer-based models.

Hannah spent five years with Futures Group as a reproductive health and HIV specialist and a gender team member for the USAID-funded Health Policy and MEASURE Evaluation Projects. She designed and managed country-level programs on health policy; provided technical assistance and training on gender and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS policy to local NGOs, government counterparts, and USAID Missions in Latin America and West Africa; and conducted research and modeling on family planning, HIV/AIDS, and gender issues. Hannah earned an MPH in population and family health from Columbia University and a BA in Latin American studies and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
