Florence, MD, is a physician and public/community health and gender expert and a consultant with Iris Group. She has extensive experience designing and conducting gender training and providing technical assistance on gender analysis, integration and mainstreaming. Florence is a trainer of trainers in gender with Talleres Cantera in Nicaragua and has conducted trainings of trainers as well as direct training, sensitization and curriculum development on gender equality for the Haitian Red Cross and other clients. She currently is the Director of the Human Development Department at Fondation Kole Zepol (FONKOZE), Haiti’s leading microfinance organization providing financial services to the underserved, including women living in poverty. Florence has worked for a number of health and development projects in Haiti, including as a consultant for the Haitian Red Cross’ Kay Nou project.
She has an MD in medicine and surgery from Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, Mexico (UNAM) and an MSc in Rural Development and Natural Resources from El Colegio de la Frontera Sur in Chiapas, Mexico. Florence is fluent in French, Haitian Creole, Spanish and English and lives in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
